Press-mould profiles with gradual transitional zones - having uniform structure due to random distribution of reinforcing component

In mfr. of press-moulded profiles having extended gradual transitional zones in =1 dimension and comprising a non-expanding mixt. of a heat-setting binder (eg MF, UF, PF resin) compounded with fibrous material (eg sawdust, asbestos fibres), where the mixt. is pref-pressmoulded into a shape almost corresponding with, but somewhat larger than, the desired final shape, followed by hot-pressmoulding into the final shape and hardening in a heated mould, the pre-pressmoulding and the hot-pressmoulding are effected in different directions staggered by 90 degrees w.r.t. each other. This angular displacement causes random distribution and position of the fibrous material, improved homogeneity, dimension stability and mech. strength being achieved.
