An antibiotic prepd. by cultivation of a strain of streptomyces bikiniensis var. medermyceticus ATCC Nr.21894, pref. at 25-30 degrees under aerobic conditions, and isolation from the culture broth has the following props: Formula C25H31O8N.HCL, M.Wt. 510, M.pt. 150 degrees- 180 degrees with decompostion, specific rotation alpha 26D 170 (c = 1, MeOH), u.V. and i.r. spectra; characteristic, sol. in H2O, MeOH EtOH PrOH; slightly sol. benzene, CHCl3, ethyl acetate, insol. n-hexane, cyclohexane, petroleum ether.
