The charge is fed to a hopper, below which a rotary funnel is mounted so that any one of four bunkers can be filled, each of which leads to a common funnel mounted above a stationary bell. The common funnel is divided into four segments by means of four vertical plates placed at intervals of 90 degrees and a hinged plate is located at the base of each segment so that each of the four streams can be deflected. Both ends of each bunker are fitted with gas disc-valves, so that the press. can be balanced with the furnace press. and also with a valve to release the contents of each bunker. The four bunkers can be discharged in any desired order or time and the four deflector plates ensure that the charge flows in any desired direction. A blocking plate can be placed under any of the bunkers so that they can easily be isolated for repairs.
