Freeze concentration of protein contg. aqs. soln. - in particular of milk, fruit juice, coffee, tea, wine

The aqs. mother soln. is frozen and concentrate sepd. from the resulting crystals which entrain a fraction of the prod. the crystals being melted by taking up heat in a recuperative process. The soln. produced by melting the crystals is concentrated by a membrane ultrafiltration process, this secondary concentrate being returned to the mother soln. pref. at a point in the process before the freezing stage. Process yield is increased by recovering prod. previously discarded with sepd. ice crystals.
