Application of ceramic cladding to insulating layer - involves heating insulating layer while glued tiles are pressed against it

The process uses ceramic tiles fixed to a layer of plastics insulating foam. A sheet of the insulating foam is placed on a support plate and the assembly is placed in a heating furnace. the heated sheet then receives the tiles glued to a sheet of paper, the tile faces bearing against the sheet being coated with glue. Support plate, foam sheet and tiles then pas through a press, which compresses the foam and at the same time glues the tiles in place, the glue on the latter being reactivated by the hot foam. The latter can make prints in the foam with the tiles each tile being surrounded by a foam cushion.
