Refractory lining of furnace walls - using suspended precast sections

A method of lining which reduces time and labour content of the relining operation is described in which large precast sections are suspended from specially-designed suspension units. Furnaces may be relined quicker and with less skilled labour than previously. For application to large industrial furnaces generally. Instead of individual firebricks, the furnace wall is constructed of refractory moddles. The refractory materal has a flat front side but is slotted at the back so that it may be supported by a horizontal U-beam. A series of such horizontal supports are suitably placed to fit the refractory module and welded to vertical members to form a vertical wall.
