The underwater harpoon gun, powered by an elastic band, has a V-shaped wire connecting the two ends of the elastic band, which engages the end of the harpoon or arrow, and which tends to be stretched straight under tension, and spring open after firing, resulting in wear at the connecting points. In its tensioned position, the end of this connector (1) is retained inside the housing (5) by a spherical block (3), the end (2) of the connector being bent over. Thus the ends of the connector are attached to the ends of the elastic by ball joints which allow the angle between them to vary with the tension. The hole through this block can be round, oval or X-shaped.
