Separator for multi-stage liquid extractor - having perforated plates on pure liquid streams to prevent re-entrainment

Multi-stage liquid-liquid extractor has series of extraction stages each with a liquid separator and provision to recycle and remix part of the extracting phase as in the parent patent. The pure phases are drawn out of the separator through perforated screens with holes of dia. 3-20 mm, pref. 5-15 mm. The holes can be uniformly distributed across the surface or the hole spacing near the separator lid and base can be closer. Similarly the hole spring on the part of the plates closest to the horizontal centre can be wider. The plates should be inclined at an angle in the range 5-45 degrees, pref. 10-25 degrees to the pure liquid surfaces.
