A part of the sluice door is supported near its end on a mounting comprising a forked part carrying a flanged wheel on a rail. The forked part can swivel relative to the door about an axis which extends parallel to the baffle plate of the door within an end bulkhead system for the door. The centre of the axis lies on a fixed bending axis between which and the baffle plate extends the neutral axis of the door. The design ensures that when the door is deflected under maximum pressure from the water pressure, no angular thrust can occur between the wheel and rail since the point of input of the bearing load remains exactly on the centre of the rail.
