The large poled tents with a guy (11) tied support frame is easily erected with fabric roof and wall panels being suspended from the pre-erected pole and guy structure. Pref. a floor shaped ground sheet (2) is used with cut-outs for location of ground embedded pole receptive sockets; and a gauge cord radiating about poles is used to set out peg locations. Guys are then installed conforming to the cords of the desired tent profile: the use of the gauge cord ensuring that all guys are of equal length etc. Light gauge fabric can be used for walls etc., since these elements do not contribute to tent stability.
