Joint for pressurised pipes - with pipe pushed into junction and serrations or holes for security and sealing

The joint is for internally pressurised flexible pipes, the pipe (2) being pushed into the junction piece (1) rather than on to it. As a result, the internal pressure tends to increase the friction and seal between the pipe and junction instead of causing separation. Additional security may be achieved by forming matching serrations (10, 11) on the mating faces. Alternatively, holes (14) in the junction piece allow the pressure to force the tube outwards locally and form projections which prevent axial movement. Conventional O ring seals (28) may also be included in the joint. The pipe may be made of natural or synthetic rubber.
