A traditional fireplace with fire togs is fitted with a duct system with an air intake through which cold air is drawn. The air in the duct is directed over the hot flue gases in the chimney and warm air is ejected through an opening which may be in the same or another room. The base of the hearth is also surrounded with a water tank (4) which supplies hot water to a radiator system or a hot water system. This water circuit is fitted with an overflow line and overhead supply tank.
