Foundry slag of the type known as LD (Linz-Donawitz) is used as a shielding material against nuclear radiation. It can be included in hydraulic cement compsns., hydrocarbon-contg. cements and plastics compsns., in the form of filler, sand, gravel, etc. Suitable slag is 'Scorex' (RTM).
