The inductor consists of 2 partial inductors each transmitting approx. the same active energy to a workpiece; each partial inductor is placed at a given distance from the other to avoid disturbances arising from the dispersion field of the other; they are connected to the 3 terminals of the triphase network, 1 of the terminals being common to both partial inductors; and a range of condensers is connected in parallel to each partial inductor whose power consumption of capacitative reactive energy differs from that required for perfect compensation of inductive reactive energy by a deficit for one partial inductor and by an excess for the other by about 58% of the active energy so that the supply currents for the induction assembly are approx. equal and are relatively dephased by about 120 degrees. Used for heating rolling mill rolls. Avoids use of a phase equipoise appts. but ensure equal distribution of heating power over the 3 phases of the grid.
