Electronic control of contraction of facial muscles - where only one of facial nerves is suffering from partial or total lesion

Electronic device for controlling =1 muscle on the paralysed side of the face in case of one-sided facial paralysis comprises sensors which respond to contraction of non-paralysed muscles by producing an output signal, pulse generator, which produces a first series of pulses corresp. to a basic rhythm, and pulse generators which produce a second series of pulses, controlled by the sensors. Means are provided for combining the two series of pulses to produce an output signal in response to which means excite the muscles on the paralysed side via one of the divisions of the paralysed facial nerve.
