Cement mfg. plant comprises a hearing furnace, a combustion chamber above the furnace a multistage preheater where finely divided material is suspended in smoke from the furnace and the combustion chamber, and a clinker coolant plant. At least two indirect exchange air reheaters are arranged in series in the path of the air feeding the combustion chamber and heated by part of the smoke from the furnace and the combustion chamber so as to exchange in countercurrent between the air and the smoke. At least one of the reheaters is placed at the exit of an intermediate stage of the preheater. Improved recovery of heat from the exit fumes of the furnace is achieved.
