摘要
High-purity CCl4 is produced by (a) chlorinating an aliphatic starting material at 160-200 degrees C. and 1-10 bar to form a perchlorinated product contng. 70% Cl, and (b) subjecting this product to chlorolysis by evaporating at 250 degrees C. in the presence of excess Cl2 and heating the vapour at 450-600 degrees C. and 1-10 bar for =2 sec. with CxCly vapour (x =6; y =12) in the presence of a metal chloride catalyst. The process is esp. useful for converting industrial by-products, esp. the chlorinated residues from the prodn. of vinyl chloride, ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or chloroprene; and gives high yields (e.g. 80-97% based on C introduced) of a product that is pure enough not to require additional distn.
