The electrical insulating element is particularly for aerial line insulation. It has an insulating cylindrical tube held by its ends on two metallic caps each having at its end, at the side of the tube, a shoulder and at the other end a means of fixing. The insulator is characterised in that the diameter of the cylindrical part of the tube is less than the maximum diameter of the cap shoulder. The connection of the cylindrical part of the tube to the shoulders is effected along a surface which is approximately in the form of a hyperbola. The end of the tube penetrates into a cylindrical cut machined in the cap shoulder. The connection of the cylinder to the caps is achieved by means of a compound mass containing mineral fibres.
