A railway track control system has a set of coupler (B) dividing the track into sections so that it can be monitored cyclically, the sections overlapping. Each coupler has a set of three secondary windings (L2, L3, L4) each with a switch across it, and a primary winding (L1) across the track is isolated from the power supply by a blocking capacitor (C1, C2) each end. Each coupler is able to be operated as a receiver or a transmitter on a short circuit. The couplers are connected by three feed lines to a central control position with an oscillator and modulator for a coupler in a transmission state. The system has a cycling device, a logic system including a memory, and a receiving device and an evaluator.
