Washing machine control - providing partial pump-out of hot dirty wash water and refilling with clean water

In the control of a washing machine, partic. a machine for household use, at the end of the washing phase in which the wash water is pumped away from the wash drum, at least once, only a part of the water in the wash drum is pumped away and clean water is supplied in its place. More esp. the drum is filled with clean water each time after partial pumping out takes place. By carrying out the partial pumping out of the used wash water and refilling with clear cold water, a pre-selected number of times, the articles being wahed can be cooled gradually rather than being subjected to possibly deleterious 'thermal shock'.
