Recycling of waste bituminous macadam - dug up from roads, heated and mixed with binder in one plant

Equipment and process for recycling bituminous macadam dug up during repairs to roads and pavements. The pieces of asphalt which were originally compacted are collected up by a transporter, weighed and put in a rotary drier to which is added between 0.5 and 5% of either hot or cold liquid bituminous binder, depending on the weight of the material. This is then mixed together, heat being applied when necessary. The equipment forms a single unit consisting of the weighing machine, the drier, a vat containing the liquid binder and apparatus for measuring out of the amount of binder and injecting the appropriate amount into the rotary drier.
