The share, mounted on a chassis, is in the form of an anchor with central shovel part and forward-extending, pointed blade, and backwards-extending concave, upwards-curved plate. The plate ends in two, fixed, horizontal prongs forming a rake with movable rods for shaking off the earth. The collector consists of a chain with outward-pointing pins; a belt running on two rollers; an idling wheel; and earth-shaker at the beginning and end of the conveyor, operated by a joint crank and lever system. Although working continuously this arrangement avoids damaging the delicate root hairs by operating like a shovel.
