The length of counter on the sales assistants' side is straight. On the customers' side, it is divided into several portions each comprising an integral desk at right angles with a gap between for a customer to stand and speak to the assistant. Opposite each standing area, on the assistants' side is a display rack and a similar, but lower, rack is at the rear of each desk to form a divider. A decorative panel is on the face of each desk and parcel shelves are underneath. The counter, on the sales assistants' side, is fitted with drawers for storing merchandise.
