Voltage converter which is used to charge a capacitor which is afterwards discharged into the firing winding by means of a thyristor controlled by a shaping circuit, at the moment of contact breaker opening. The voltage converter consists of a two transistor oscillator whose emitters are connected to the battery, and whose collectors are connected to earth by opposed windings comprising the primary of a transformer. The transistor bases are connected, via a winding in series with a resistor, and coupled to the corresponding primary winding, to a middle point which is connected to the contact breaker through a resistor. To a terminal of the resistor is connected the control circuit of the thyristor.
