Appparatus for simulating the effects produced by the flash of an atomic bomb, particularly for testing the circuits in an aircraft, employs a set of e.g. four panels large enough to completely surround the aircraft. The panels are suspended above ground by a number of insulators attached to wires suspended in turn from a set of pylons, equal in number to the panels, and with further insulators between the bottom edges of the panels and the ground. These panels are connected to a suitable generator, the wires between the panels being conductor wires. The panels may be of solid metal or of a metallic grid, or of perforated metal. The masts are preferably held up by stays.
