The device simulates, by means of sunlight, the effect of sunlight with three different characteristics parameters i.e. latitude, solar time and time of the year. These parameters are independent of those of the sunlight at the moment when the simulation is taking place. The simulation can be carried out either using three fixed solar light parameters or using two fixed parameters and a variable parameter. The system has means which enable each parameter to be fixed or varied independently of the others and a means which enable the apparent movement of the sun during the simulation to be compensated for.
