The paging system operates by incorporating a miniature radio receiver (12) with each hotel key (10) which may be fitted with a clip (14) to allow it to be carried on the person. The radio receiver (12) has a loudspeaker which provides an audio signal in response to wave pulses transmitted for a given duration by a central station. Pref. the miniature receiver (12) is supplied by a rechargeable battery, which can be charged by insertion of the key in a central unit, thus closing the charging circuit. The miniature radio receiver also has a loop to enable it to be fastened to the strap of a ladies handbag.
