Reinforced concrete slabs for multistorey buildings - are cast one above another and jacked up into position

The reinforced concrete slabs for floors in multistorey buildings are cast using as shuttering slabs which have have already been cast (1). The reinforcement consists of 3-dimensional wire mesh (3). A support (4) is locked by a rim (5) into a cavity in the slab (1). The jack piston has a head (5') which can be removed in two parts. The slab (1) is covered with a film of smooth plastic (6), over which is placed a layer of motor (3') and then another 3-dimensional mesh (3'). After putting reinforcements in place, the new slab (1') is poured and the concrete becomes encrusted in the groove of the head (5'). Once the concrete hardens, the jack (4) lifts the new slab to its permanent level where it is supported by any suitable means. To release the jack, the head is dismantled, leaving in the new slab a cavity to fit the rim (5) of the jack and the jack is then withdrawn.
