The leaf-stripper consists of a rotating cylinder with impact bars. The pivot axle of the cylinder is preferably horizontal and crosswise to the intake direction of the maize cobs. The cylinder is at least partially enclosed by a basket. A conveyor conveys the leaves and the cobs up by the impact bars and basket to the chopper. The conveyor consists of at least one conveyor-cylinder with a pivot axle preferably parallel to the axle of the leaf-stripper. A sieve-type chute takes the leaves. The conveyor-cylinders are positioned above the leaf-stripper cylinder.
