The thermostatically controlled valve has a valve housing with a valve seat and a valve plate, and a thermostat head is held on the valve lower part. The valve has an actuating handwheel which operates in conjunction with the thermostat held on the valve plate. The combined valve depth is not greater than that of a similar conventional valve used in a heating system. A threaded component (3) is screwed directly into the upper part (2) of the valve. On this upper part is fastened a stop ring for the regulating handwheel (4), which encloses the threaded part (3) and also partly the regulating handwheel (4).
