Replaceable shoe for piston type blow-out arrester sealing joint - used in underwater well head in deep water

Positioning an apparatus in a well head, particularly the replacement joints in the piston-type anti-blow out closure members, by locating it vertically in the well head by bringing a flange constituting a radial projection of the apparatus into contact with one end surface of a closure element orienting the apparatus by rotation until a locating element fixed thereon enters an axially extending space running between opposite faces of the piston. Enables interchangeable shoes mounted in the pistons of a blow-out arrester to be replaced instead of the pistons themselves which is a difficult operation in well heads of underwater wells at great depths.
