The indicator is used to display a patient's risk of a heart attack in dependence on a number of different factors, relating to the patient's lifestyle and medical condition. It comprises two rotatable discs, positioned one above the other within a sleeve with one or more zones of each disc visible through respective windows in the sleeve. The lower disc lists the different factors affecting the chances of heart attack, viewed one after the other through the window together with a corresponding index number. These index numbers refer to scale markings around the periphery of the second disc which projects slightly from the sleeve, so that it can be positioned in accordance with the index numbers.
