The connector is intended for connecting two pipe ends with outward rims. It comprises an open ring (3), which may consist of one or more pieces, which ring has a U-section consisting of inclined sides (14) capable of engaging the rims of the pipe ends, and a cylindrical central portion (12). The free ends of the open ring are provided with outwardly projecting hooks (17-20) pointing in opposite directions, or with slots. The locking element(s) (5) has a central outwardly bent portion (22) and its ends have slots or hooks capable of engaging the hooks or slots on the ring. The ring may have an easily bent central section (10) acting as as stiff hinge.
