The mode conversion device is based on magnets optic effects in accordance with claims 1 to 4 of the principal patent which describes a substrate (1) having a ferrimagnetic layer (2) passing the radiation. The layer is obtained by epitaxy and is anisotropic. Furthermore the magnetisation direction is contained in a plane which is normal to the direction of propagation of the radiated energy whose mode of propagation is to be converted. The magnetisation makes an angle of 45 deg. with the plane of the film.
