The box lid hinges on the underlying box rim which it overlaps when closed. An arcuate slot with parallel sides is cut at each end of the upstanding box edge, and the box lid has a projecting stub at each corresponding edge. This stub fits into the slot, which forms part of a circle centered on the axis of rotation of the hinged lid. The extreme open and closed positions of the lid correspond to the round stub resting against the slot ends. The lid and box base are attached at at least two points along the axis of rotation, to maintain simple hingeing about this axis.
