The ticket dispensing machine contains partially printed tickets (11) on which magnetic data is encoded. The tickets are arranged in groups according to destination. Tickets in a group have the destination printed on them and have also magnetic codes corresponding to this destination. The ticket is completed by determining from a price memory the cost of the ticket for the journey. The memory address is obtained from the magnetic destination code contained on the ticket. The machine has also means for choosing the type of ticket required and or class, and or preferential rate. It also enables one to choose from the price memory a price which corresponds to a code carried by a partially printed ticket, and which corresponds to a destination.
