Electric contact of silver-tin oxide fibre composite - for circuit breakers of 40-400 a rating and 50-500 gauss blowout field strength

Electric contact, eps. for circuit brakers rated at 40-4000 amps. at a magnetic blowout field strength of 50-500 gauss, consists, at least in the contact layer, of a composite of Ag and fibrous embedded SnO2, the SnO2 fibres being aligned parallel and perpendicular to the switching plane. These fibres pref. are 1-15 mu m long and are present in an amt. of 12-18 wt.%. Much lower spark loss then with the conventional Ag/CdO or other metal oxide contacts is obtd.
