1420005 Continuous casting USS ENGS & CONSULTANTS Inc 13 March 1973 [16 March 1972] 12128/73 Heading B3F In a mould 10, Fig. 4, which has vertical water-circulation channels 16 and is encased in outer walls 12, there is, near the bottom, at least one water inlet 15 and a chamber 17 between the inlet and the channels and, to even out the water distribution, a baffle 20 at the inner face of the relevant wall 12 having its bottom edge 21 spaced from the bottoms of the chamber 17 and of the channels 16, the edge sloping from either end down to a point opposite the inlet 15 at an angle of 5-15 degrees to the horizontal. In a slab mould, the long sides have more than one inlet and water course. Blocks 12a supporting each baffle 20 have bottom edges sloping up to the median plane of the corresponding wall 12.
