Such compounds may be made by reacting carbon disulphide with a malonic ester CH 2 (COOR) 2 in an aqueous alkaline solution and reacting the resultant alkali metal (M) salt (MS) 2 C= C(COOR) 2 , either in situ or after separating, with a 1,2-dihaloethane. The compounds may be used as agricultural or horticultural fungicides.
