1435637 Antistatic polyamide composition BAYER AG 14 May 1974 [16 May 1973] 21198/74 Heading C3R An antistatic polyamide composition, stabilized against yellowing by heat, comprises at least one each of (A) a linear aliphatic or cycloaliphatic polyamide, (B) a polyoxyalkylene compound, and (C) a carboxylic amide being (a) RCONR 1 R 2 or where: R and R 5 are each C 4-24 alkyl; R 1 is C 1-5 alkyl, or benzyl; R 2 is C 6-24 alkyl, R 3 is a C 1-6 hydrocarbon group or and R 4 is H benzyl C 1-5 alkyl, or, when R 3 is -CH 2 CH 2 -, R 1 and R 4 together may be -CH 2 CH 2 -; (A) having MW 7000-20,000, and there being by weight #7% (B) and 0À1- 7% (C). Polyamide (A) may have repeating unit -[-OCR 6 CO-NHR 1 NH-]- or where R 6 is C 4-20 alkylene, R; is alkylene cyclohexylene, or and R 8 is C 3-20 alkylene; e.g. (A) may be nylon 6 or 66. (B) may be derived from ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide, and may be a polyether; or it may be an alkoxylated alcohol, carboxylic acid, amine, phenol or substituted phenol; or one of these latter compounds, having been reacted at the -OH end-group, thus containing nitrile, amino, ester, sulphonate, sulphate, amine salt, or amide as endgroups. (B) may be added to the monomer(s) before the preparation of (A), and a granulate formed, (C) being admixed therewith in an extruder just before fibre or sheet formation; or (B) and/or (C) may be added to a melt of (A).
