1435359 Valves JAMES KEMP & CO PTY Ltd 11 Sept 1973 42741/73 Heading F2V A valve assembly for venting a sewerage main comprises a body 10 and a cap 12 to which all the parts of the valve are attached to facilitate repair, the parts comprising a ball closure member 24 for controlling orifice 22 which is loosely connected to a stem 15 attached to a float 14 and a pressure relief valve 26 which is actuated via a lever mechanism. Both valves as shown in Fig. 1 are open. When the liquid level rises both valves are closed. As the pressure in the body increases the ball valve remains closed and a decrease in liquid level opens the relief valve. On line failure or when the mains is drained, the liquid level drops and the pressure decreases so that the ball valve opens as well as the relief valve. An inlet 30 leads to an annular passage and further ports 33, 34, 35 for washing of the components in situ.
