1441778 Removing impurities from the product solution from the oxidation of diisopropylbenzene SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 3 Oct 1973 [21 Nov 1972] 46229/73 Heading C2C The invention comprises a process for removing impurities from the reaction product solution from the oxidation of diisopropylbenzene to diisopropylhydroperoxide with molecular oxygen, optionally after removal of diisopropylhydroperoxide from said solution, which comprises extracting the impurities formed in the oxidation from the solution with a mixture of an aqueous alkaline solution and at least one C 1 -C 3 alcohol. The extraction reagent is preferably an aqueous solution containing 10-80% wt. alcohol and 0À05 to 1% wt. of alkali (e.g. Na 2 CO 3 or NaOH).
