Two guides 12 project from the rule 6 and slidably support the base circle guide 13 which has longitudinal guides 15 for a tool holder slide 16 having a pin 17 engaging a transmission member 18 slidable on the rods 10. The slide 16 carries an arm 21 on which are truing diamonds 30, 31 adjustable along slides 25 and angularly by heads 24 for truing helical tooth systems. Operation of the piston-and-cylinder device 8, 28 causes the support 4 to move along the rods 5 and the rule 6 to roll on the arcs 2, 3. The stud 19 moves along an involute curve on a base circle determined by adjustment of the base circle guide 13 along the rods 12 of the rolling rule 6 by a screw 14. The movement of the stud 19 causes pivotal movement of the guide element to be transmitted to the control slide 20 so that the pin 17 and tool holder slide 16 describe an involute curve.
