1454138 Controlling open end spinners VYZKUMNY USTAV BAVLNARSKY 27 Feb 1974 [9 April 1973] 8758/74 Heading D1D In an open end spinning machine comprising spinning units each provided with a sensor for detecting an abnormal operating condition, switching-off means for temporarily stopping operating elements of the unit, and with an executing element for removal of the abnormal condition, when a sensor detects an abnormal condition it actuates the switching-off means and simultaneously connects an AND circuit to an abnormal condition removal programming system common to the spinning units, the associated executing element and switching off means being thereby connected to a condition removal programme repeatedly emitted by the system. The programme may be emitted at repeated time intervals. As shown, Fig. 2, an open end spinner comprises a common normal operation programming system 1 and a common, abnormal condition removal programming system 2. Each spinning unit comprises clutches 91, 92 for a fibre feed roller and a yarn withdrawal roller, forming switching-off means and a clutch 93, enabling a yarn winding bobbin to be reversed to return yarn to the spinning chamber for spinning in, and forming the executing element. Each unit also comprises a sensor 71 for detecting yarn breakages. In normal operation sensor 71 is in position one, and system 1 issues a signal via line 11 to close clutch 91, a signal via line 12 to close clutch 92, and a signal via line 13 releasing clutch 93. When sensor 71 senses yarn breakage it assumes position two, to operate relay 51 to disconnect clutches 91 and 92, and simultaneously AND circuit or relay 51 is connected via contact 511 to line 20 of system 2. When the repeated programme of system 2 emits a starting signal O relay 61 is operated and clutches 91, 92, 93 are controlled by signals from system 2 to effect yarn piecing- up and to start spinning. The removal of abnormal conditions may be accomplished simultaneously on a plurality of spinning units. The removal of different abnormal conditions may be accomplished according to different programmes.
