A dispersion comprising an hydrophilic organic colloid, fine droplets of silver halide developing agent dissolved in a substantially water-insoluble solvent, and a surface active polymer containing therein recurring units represented by the formula (I): --CH-CH- ¦¦ MOOCCOO-CH2CH2O- -R n WHEREIN R is a hydrocarbon chain or fluorine substituted hydrocarbon chain containing 4 to 22 carbon atoms, or an aryl group; n is 0 or an integer of 1 to 40; and M is a hydrogen atom or a cation.
