Ni may be deposited on the coated fibres by electrodes or electrolytre methods, thermal decomposition of carbonyls or halides or by sputtering, and the coated fibres hot pressed 700 to 1300‹C. in an atmosphere of e.g. nitrogen, argon xanon, or helium. A further metal may be applied to the Ni-coated fibres before pressing.
