1404468 Automatic voltage control SIEMENS AG 8 Sept 1972 [9 Sept 1971] 41905/72 Heading G3R Sinusoidal signals 90 degrees out of phase and produced by an electronic generator are amplitude stabilized by an arrangement including squaring and adding circuits, a comparator, and signal divider circuits. The comparator output is processed by an integrating controller. As shown in Fig. 2, a variable frequency twophase generator 2 produces orthogonal voltages A 1 , A 2 which are passed to dividers 8, 9, forming part of a vector analyzer VA Fig. 3. The outputs from the dividers are squared in circuits 10, 11, and the squared signals added together with a reference E in a mixer 13. The mixer output is passed through a proportional-integral controller 14 with an output clamp 15 to form the divisor inputs for dividers 8, 9. Thus, the output signals from the dividers are normalized and form amplitude stabilized signals cos , sin independent of variations in the amplitude of the generator output. These signals may be fed back to stabilize the voltages A 1 , A 2 by forming inputs for the generator 2 which includes cross-connected integrators 19, 20 and multipliers 21, 22, Fig. 3. In another arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), the output from controller 14 is passed through a further PI controller (25) to form the inputs for the generator 2.
