Cooling bed transfer appts - for handling rolled rod singly or in bundles

The appts. transfers rods from the rolling mill exit roller conveyor to a cooling bed and comprises a collector plate on which the rods collect in rows before being transferred to a fixed cooling bed feed plate. For transferring individual rods, the collector plate, together with a feed plate side wall which is inclined in the transfer direction, fomrs a channel open towards a braking channel. For transferring rod bundles, a roughly vertical sidewall of the collector plate, the collector plate base and the feed plate side wall form a channel closed on three of its sides. Appts. can be used for controlled cooling of small bundles of alloy steel rods or for rapid cooling of individual ordinary steel rods.
