1,262,719. Preparation of partial hydrolysate of triphenyl-tin chloride. UCB. (UNION CHIMIQUE - CHEMISCHE BEDRIJVEN) S.A. 1 July, 1970 [4 July, 1969], No. 33841/69. Heading C2J. A process for the preparation of a partial hydrolysate of triphenyl-tin chloride, comprising triphenyl-tin hydroxide and triphenyl-tin chloride, which is non-phytotoxic in an acid, neutral or basic medium, comprises hydrolysing an alcoholic solution of triphenyl-tin chloride with an inorganic or organic base in such a manner that 1 to 25% by weight of triphenyl-tin chloride is present in the triphenyl-tin hydroxide obtained. The preferred alcohol is methanol and specified bases are sodium, potassium and ammonium hydroxides and mono-, di- or trimethylamines, -ethylamines, -ethanolamines, -propylamines or -propanolamines. When an inorganic base is used the process may be conducted in two stages, the product of the first stage being hexaphenyl distannoxane. The partial hydrolysate may be used to make fungicidal compositions.
