A PROCESS FOR TREATING COAL TAR PITCHES TO IMPROVE THEIR CCOKING VALUE

A process for treating coal tar pitch so as to improfe its coking value and CSUB2/SUB resin content which comprises heating the pitch to temperatures, in the range 350degrees to 400degrees C for periods upto 6 hours and the tar vapours produced are refluxed and condensed back into the hot pitch.
